I'm currently at the Euralex conference in Turin (Piemonte). Yesterday I presented a paper ("A Bilingual Corpus for Lexicographers") together with Sabine. It went very well – there was a huge audience, and lots of people have been asking us questions afterwards. I'll write more once I'm back in Glasgow.
During Euralex, I’ve noticed how the microphones don’t cope well with aspirated consonants. They’re fine when people speak Italian or French into them, but give them English or Danish, and all the initial /p/s, /t/s and /k/s have unpleasant acustic effects when the puff of air reaches the microphone.
