I got back from Turin last night. What a difference! In Turin, it was extremely hot and humid all the time, but here in Scotland, it’s freezing cold and crisp.
The conference was very good – I heard about several interesting developments and met plenty of people. For instance, Gyldendal had sent their entire dictionary department – it was quite nice speaking Danish again… There were also loads of Irish people speaking Irish – it certainly didn’t appear to be a small or endangered language at all.
Thursday night a small group of us went to the restaurant where Miriam’s friend Maria is working. She got a shock when she saw me, but she recovered, and we had great food and a wonderful grappa.
