Me with my new Sony Alpha 100
I finally got my Sony Alpha 100 today!
It has taken ages! First I tried to get it from DigitalKind, but it just kept being delayed. I then tried to get it from Rankhour, but they also started to talk about delays, so I asked for a refund. I then tried A J Purdy, and that worked – they shipped it within 24 hours!
It seems to be a somewhat dodgy shop, though. Instead of sending me a box with an Alpha 100 body, they sent me the lense bundle one, but with the lense taken out.
The camera is great, though! It’s so fast, and it makes reassuring noices when I take photos.
Born to assemble Ikea furniture
Phyllis had warned me before she moved in, but six-years-old Charlotte has nevertheless impressed me hugely with her ability to assemble Ikea furniture.
It wasn’t so much when she assembled Léon’s chair on her own, since that was pretty easy anyway, but yesterday she twice did things right that I did wrong while we assembled a bed, and I’m normally not too bad at doing these things.
I wonder whether anybody is willing to pay extra to have their furniture assembled by a wee girl?
I got horns that open bottles
One of the great things about living with kids is that you get an excuse to eat burgers at Burger King and then go to the cinema to watch movies like Hoodwinked.
It was a really funny film – and I loved the goat…!
Vedbendsvandaler
This will drive you nuts!
I got this from Phyllis, who got it from her parents. It’s very simple: Count the people, wait until they shift, and then count them again.
Sygt barn
Going public
My girlfriend, Phyllis, has finally told her parents about us, so now I can finally blog about it in public.
To cut a long story short, my office-mate Phyllis and I gradually fell in love sharing an office, but we managed to keep a distance until she went on maternity leave with her third child, Léon, a year ago. Not seeing each other in the office every day drove us into each other’s arms. The year since then has been an emotional rollercoaster for all of us, but she finally left her husband on 26 September and moved in with me. At the moment, her youngest son, Léon, spends most of his time with us, while Marcel (9) and Charlotte (6) spend more time with their dad. They’ve alredy spent a full weekend here, and it went really well. They’re all really sweet kids.
Famous
A newly published book, Limits of Language by Mikael Parkvall, has a section about me (see all of it on the right). It’s a very amusing book in general, so I recommend it highly.
NB: Of course it’s my father, not my mother, who’s of German origin.
Inkubo
filmo, Inkubo. Ĝi estas iomete multekosta, sed mi ege ŝatus vidi ĝin.
