I dag fik vi til aftensmad wienerpølser (fra Ikea) med kartoffelmos, ærter og stegte løg.Léon var ikke specielt glad for tilbehøret, men han elskede pølserne. There’s a very interesting wee article in The Economist this week.
It lists how big pensions are in different countries compared to earnings before retirement. Denmark is slightly above average, but Britain is at the very bottom, with pensions averaging only around 30% of pre-retirement earning.
It’s appalling, to be honest. In effect it means people in this country can only have a comfortable retirement if they’ve paid off their mortgage and have some additional savings, but with rising house prices more and more people aren’t going to have that.

Ud over engelsk og fransk er Léon nu også ved at blive dygtig til dansk.Han har dog stadig nogle få problemer med udtalen. Ord som bil, bus og hammer udtaler han helt rigtigt, men har har lidt svært ved /h/ og /v/ i forlyd, så sæbe bliver til ['hɛbɛ] eller ['hɛbi], søm til ['hɛm], og varm til ['bam]. Søm viser også hans problem med rundede fortungevokaler, der sammen med hans reduktion af konsonantgrupper fører til, at strømpe udtales ['dʌmbə].Derudover korter...

The new EU treaty is causing the Tories to try and get a referendum about it, while the LibDems have decided it doesn't need a referendum, although they were strongly in favour of one for the original EU constitution.Interestingly, the LibDems are also strongly opposed to a referendum on Scottish independence, although I don't understand why that should be such...
